Central Mongolia Tour
Mongolia is the ultimate adventure destination in the sense of embracing all types of natural zones from sheer mountain ranges and ice glaciers to singing sand dunes and hot spring waters. And the great part is that you can experience this all in a single central part of the country.
First up the Terelj National Park; where the nature is articulated in great combination of sheer granite mountains, open fields and river. Visit to the tallest horseman-statue in the world, dedicated to Mongolian legendary emperor – Chinggis or Genghis Khan, and Khustai National Park, a home to Przewalski wild horses, is also included in your convenience on the way to Karakorum city.
Karakorum city, which once served as the capital of Mongolian Empire and an essential station of the Silk Road, has much more to share than its current physical appearance. Mongolian largest and the historically most significant religious and cultural center – Erdenezuu monastery – is operating as a museum there. Some historical artefacts can be found on the way to Ugii Lake, which is home to a different species of birds and where you can enjoy fresh fishes which can be caught even by yourself.
In contrast to Terelj, next stop will be Elsen Tasarkhai, marvellous oasis with sand dunes, vegetations, lake and birds, an hour drive from Karakorum.
Terelj National Park and visit Chinggis Khaan statue
After meeting in Ulaanbaatar, drive to 40m high Giant Chinggis Khaan statue. You'll explore the extraordinary formation of rocks and stones; some of them look quite similar to turtles in Terelj national park. Horseback riding trial. Overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Hustai National Park
There are many historical monument ensemble of Ungut . On the way, see Takhi, the Asian wild horse. If you have a chance, see wolf, argali sheep and deer. Enjoy small hiking and photographing the charming landscape and wildlife. Visit Takhi's information center and overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Erdenezuu and Karakorum
The symbolic ruins of the 13th century capital of the Mongol Empire. Visit Erdene-Zuu, the oldest monastery, with 108 stupas, built in 1586. Then visit Karakorum museum and see the Great Mongol state period, Stone Age, Bronze Age, Ancient state period halls. Overnight in tourist camp near Orkhon River. (B+L+D)
When you visit the lake (altitude 1387 m; surface area—25 sq. km), you will have an opportunity to take a boat tour and do some birding. On the way, you will see Khusuu Tsaidam, a Turkic inscribed monument of the Turkic State (6th – 8th Centuries A.D). Overnight in tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Elsen tasarkhai and camel ride trial
Elsen tasarkhai unique area of forest and sand dunes. After lunch in tourist camp, there is an opportunity for a camel ride trial through the sand dunes. We will visit a local nomad family where you have an opportunity to experience their way of life, their culture and traditions. Overnight in a tourist camp. (B+L+D)
Drive back to Ulaanbaatar
After breakfast, drive back to Ulaanbaatar and end the trip. (B)
